Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy means a lot of things to a lot of people. Simply defined, massage therapy is the manual manipulation of soft tissue including muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Massage can be utilized for far more than relaxation. Whether your goal is relief from pain, to reduce stress, to treat postural dysfunction, or to enhance athletic performance, massage therapy will increase overall health and well-being.

Types of Massage

Relaxation / Swedish – By increasing circulation, Swedish Massage allows the body to release and rid itself of pain causing toxins. This is also a helpful tool for preparing muscles for deeper therapeutic treatments.

Prenatal Therapy – During gestation, a woman’s center of gravity shift causing significant postural changes. Prenatal therapy focuses on treating these specific changes as well relaxing the stressed muscles.

Sports Massage – All athletes know that with each sport comes an individual set of injury and body stresses. These problems include but are not limited to repetitive motion injuries, tendonitis, and impact injuries. Sports therapy can also be utilized to prevent common sports related strains.

Myofascial Release Therapy – Using deep, slow, stretching maneuvers this modality treats not only chronic postural dysfunction but is also very relaxing.

Neuromuscular Therapy – This is a very specific type of therapy, it concentrates on releasing trigger points. Those are the little marble-like “knots” you fell especially near where your muscles attach to your bones.
